Low Cost Robotics
The potential for service robotics is enormous: in kitchens and bars, in the area of nursing, or in agriculture and logistics, lightweight robots facilitate the automation of monotonous or non-ergonomic tasks. To make the implementation of such new concepts easy and, above all, cost-effective, igus is presenting a new modular gearbox kit for cobots at the Hannover Trade Show. The fully integrated tribo strain wave gear with motor, absolute-value encoder, force control system and controller is the main component of this kit.
To programme robots with ease, igus has now developed control software for its Low Cost Automation solutions. igus robot control is available online free of charge and offers the user an easy introduction to automation. Different robot kinematics can be programmed and controlled. A digital twin simulates the movements. In this way, the user can programme a suitable solution before purchase. The robot hardware, for example, a linear robot with switch cabinet, is offered by igus from as little as 5,000 euros.
Simple automation and low cost: the igus delta robot makes this possible by the use of lubrication-free components made of tribo-polymers. At the 2019 Motek show, the motion plastics specialist presented a new version with a 10 times larger work space volume compared with the proven model. This lightweight system for easy pick & place tasks, is delivered as a pre-assembled kit or ready to install product. This guarantees quick operation and saves costs immediately.
Robots are increasingly making their presence felt not only in the industry, but also in football. At the international robotics competition – the RoboCup – in Sydney this year, the team B-Human from Bremen showed what small robots can do in the popular sport. Here, the German Standard Platform league champion could fight for the world championship title against the reigning world champion from Leipzig.
