It’s showtime: igus launches new XXL truck for roadshows
March 12, 2024
Designers, technicians and company employees can experience new motion plastics products and the complete product range with all their senses directly at their workplace
If companies don’t have time to travel to a trade show, the trade show pays them a visit: for mobile roadshows throughout Europe, igus now sends a new XXL truck on its way. Like a Transformer, the lorry changes into a trade show stand with a roof terrace for customers on site. On board: innovations made of lubrication-free and durable high-performance plastics that increase productivity while reducing costs. Interested companies can book the roadshow now.
“Mum, look, there’s that orange lorry again,” children might shout from the back seat more often in future. The reason is that the new roadshow truck from igus is an eye-catcher. Painted bright orange from top to bottom and decorated with white company logos, the tractor unit and trailer are more striking than any fire engine. It becomes even more fascinating when the 15-metre-long XXL truck with a six-cylinder engine and 190hp arrives at its destination. There, the lorry turns out to be a transformer. Within an hour, igus employees turn it into a trade show stand. They unfold the two-part side panel. One half becomes a canopy, the other a terrace that extends the interior of the lorry into a large presentation area. Even from a distance, you can see shelves with hundreds of different products, high tables and a large monitor for presentations. There is even a roof terrace, which is secured with fence modules. Customers can climb a ladder onto the trailer and enjoy an aerial view over their company premises. In the winter months, a heating system ensures a pleasant temperature in the presentation area.
On board: networked plain bearings to energy chains to low-cost cobots
And what do customers get to see in the new roadshow truck? Developments that ensure greater productivity in the industry. These include, for example, smart plastics for the Industry 4.0 era. Energy chains and cables, plain, spherical and slewing ring bearings as well as linear guides now contain integrated sensors that enable real-time condition monitoring in addition to cost-saving and predictive maintenance. The ReBeL is also part of the roadshow. The low-cost cobot for just €4,970 in the fully equipped plug & play version is made almost entirely from high-performance plastic and enables companies of all sizes to get started with automation at a reasonable price. “The XXL truck offers companies the opportunity to experience the entire variety of our products live at their own site with all their senses: from the smallest plain bearing to heavy-duty toothed belt axes to our quick-fit energy chains and highly flexible cables,” says Tobias Vogel, CEO Plain Bearings and Linear Technology at igus. “With the new truck, we can also showcase our range of products outside of trade show times. Furthermore, our experts are on hand to provide advice and discuss possible applications.”
Roadshow fleet grows
With the new XXL truck, the Cologne-based plastics specialist is expanding its vehicle fleet for roadshows. A slightly smaller truck has been on the roads since 2022. Two roadshow trailers are also part of the fleet. In the past two years alone, igus has organised over 1,000 different customer events and in-house trade shows. Since last year, an orange and purple van with low-cost robotics has also been travelling to customers throughout Europe. “Companies are enthusiastic about our roadshows. They not only learn about pioneering technologies. They find out first-hand how to benefit from our products in their specific case,” emphasises Michael Blass, CEO e-chain Systems at igus. “We are therefore delighted to gain additional capacity for our roadshows with the new XXL truck.”
