To offer customers even more targeted individual system solutions for demanding applications in shore power supply, charging infrastructure and other specialised industrial sectors in future, igus will acquire Krott Electronic GmbH on 1st October 2026. The company from Stolberg specialises in tailor-made connection technology for industrial niche applications.

High mechanical loads, harsh environmental conditions and long operating times are part of everyday life in industries such as tunnelling, mining and offshore, in the oil and gas sector as well as in port infrastructure. To transmit energy and data safely and reliably under these conditions, the energy supply system, cables and connection technology must be a perfect match. With increasing requirements for availability, flexibility and efficiency, the need for customised system solutions is growing. At the same time, new fields of application such as shore power supply for ships or charging infrastructure are gaining importance as part of the energy transition. This is precisely where igus comes into play with the acquisition of Krott Electronic: the company is specifically expanding its expertise in industrial connection technology and further developing its project-related systems business.

Acquisition combines competencies for new system solutions

For over 60 years, igus has been developing and producing motion machine components made from lubrication-free and low-wear high-performance plastics. These include energy chain systems and the chainflex cable range, which is designed for continuous motion in energy chains. With the changing requirements of customers, igus solutions also continue to evolve. The company sees particular potential in the field of shore power supply. igus already offers mobile systems with which container and cruise ships can be flexibly supplied with shore power along a berth. The connection technology from Krott Electronic complements these solutions with further know-how for demanding applications. The owner-run company was founded in 2000 and employs seven people. It develops and distributes plug-in systems, connection housings and customised harnessing solutions for low- and medium-voltage applications, fibre optic cables, data communication and ATEX-certified products.

New area of expertise for special solutions in connection technology

With the acquisition of Krott Electronic, igus is strengthening its position as a supplier of integrated systems for energy supply, cable and automation technology, and is expanding its range of solutions for industries with the highest requirements regarding connection technology, system availability and robustness. As part of the acquisition on 1st October 2026, Krott Electronic GmbH will be integrated into igus SE & Co. KG. The employees become part of igus. The previous CEO Jan Krott will also remain on board, as Head of the new Special Solutions Cable Technology Business Unit. This way, the company’s long-standing expertise is retained and will be even more widely shared with the competencies of igus. Jan Krott: “Over many years, we have built up comprehensive know-how in the development and production of customised connection solutions for demanding industrial applications. As part of igus, we will be able to link this knowledge even more closely with expertise in energy supply and cable technology and develop innovative system solutions that are precisely tailored to the requirements of our customers.”
