Single Pair Ethernet is currently one of the biggest trend topics in the field of data communication in order to be able to communicate with even the smallest sensors. In addition to compact connectors, slim cables are also in demand. For this purpose, igus has developed a highly flexible Single Pair Ethernet cable especially for dynamic use in the energy chain, and now also offers it harnessed as a ready-to-connect and tested readycable. To further advance the research of the technology, igus joined the SPE Industrial Partner Network in 2019 and has now received the “PIONEER Member” award.
igus now offers a new chainflex Profinet cable for fast cable harnessing in the field. For this purpose, igus relies on FastConnect technology, which ensures that the cable can be stripped easily in just a few steps. This allows assembly time to be reduced by 46 per cent. At the same time, the new Profinet cable has a long service life, especially in dynamic use in the energy chain, and a guarantee of up to 36 months.
igus has developed the e-loop especially for hanging installations in extremely challenging applications, such as deep drilling rigs. The extremely robust energy chain system safely guides cables vertically and is already replacing more and more service loops worldwide. With the new CFSPECIAL.5 series, there is now also the matching igus cable range for the e-loop. A combination of seven chainflex cables makes cost savings of 35 per cent possible.
The IO-Link technology enables users to communicate quickly and easily with their sensors and actuators. The cables for IO-Link must withstand the highest stresses in the energy chain and torsion on the robot. igus has now developed two new cables for this purpose. They convince with a tested service life of 22 million strokes in test 4869. At the same time, they are 32 per cent more cost-effective than currently available alternatives.
igus has developed a new logistics solution for its special energy chain cables. With the chainflex CASE, the user directly saves several times over, because instead of delivery by a courier, the cable now comes by parcel service in a secure stackable box. This significantly reduces both shipping and storage costs. The cable can be unreeled straight from the box and cut to the desired length. A QR code on the chainflex CASE ensures that the cable can be re-ordered quickly.
By increasing the voltage to 300V, users can now install the chainflex bus cables directly next to cables with a higher voltage level. Previously, all cables with different voltage classes had to be laid separately according to the specifications of the UL testing organisation. With the new, enhanced and UL-approved voltage class, the user optimises their technology and saves costs and time for the energy chain design.
In order to supply modern motors with energy and data, users need appropriate cables that function dependably even at high accelerations and on long travels. Especially for use in motion, igus has now developed a hybrid cable that is offered as a drive solution for the new Bosch Rexroth motors. It combines energy and data cable in one and is therefore also suitable for compact installation spaces. igus offers the cable as a fully harnessed readycable that is accurate to the centimetre. This saves the user costs.
Profinet is the world’s leading Ethernet-based communication solution for industrial automation. Because even large volumes of data can be transferred quickly and safely thanks to real-time communication. In order to advance the research of Profinet technology in moving applications, igus has now joined the Profibus Nutzerorganisation e.V. as a cable specialist.
With its advanced chainflex M cable series, igus now proves that quality and low price are not mutually exclusive. After four years of research, the motion cable specialist presented the new control cables CF880/CF881 and CF890/CF891 at SPS. An up to 20 per cent thinner cable structure ensures lower bend radii. This allows the user to save installation space, space inside the energy chain and costs. The chainflex M series has a tested service life of five million cycles and comes with a 36 month guarantee
“RoHS” stands for “Restriction of Hazardous Substances” and regulates the use of hazardous substances in electronic devices. This EU directive aims to avoid harmful components such as lead, mercury or plasticisers in products and work environments. All of igus’ 1,354 highly flexible chainflex cables comply with the requirements of the current RoHS II directive. This ensures legal and functional safety for machine builders and safe use and disposal for the user.
